, from Sylmar CA Summary: Its pretty nutz. You can gain some mad speed but watch out for some of the deep ruts. I ate shit pretty bad on that trail too. Oh and if your 1 of the guys that ride the trail on horses get a life. Recommended Route: Go like your going to the hummingbird trail but go farther up and once you get up to the top of the mountain look to your right. cant miss it. Other recommended trails in the same area: hummingbird, chewmash

, from great falls Montana Summary: i think this is one of the best trail on rockey peak for the down hill. I have only seen two people on horses once out of the many times i have ridden the trail. It is a really fast down hill. It was my favorite trail until i found a few secret trails on rockey peak that have a lot more difficult stuff Other recommended trails in the same area: look for small single tracks going off the main rockey peak fire road and see what you find

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Van Nuys, CA Summary: Rode this trail yesterday, a steep uphill climb to the top, the fire road is either sandy or rocky. I had difficulty trying to ride up because of the deep sand pits in some areas. The views of the mountains and the San Fernando Valley are great though! Makes the workout worthwhile. If you are in the SFV / Simi area its a close enough trail to ride. One other note is that I was on a hardtail and coming down was pretty teeth shattering because of the amount of rocks, guys on full suspension bikes should have a blast on the downhill. Recommended Route: Take 118 and exit Rocky Peak, at the off ramp make a quick right, can't miss it.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Northridge Summary: There's basically only one trail from the main trailhead to the peak. But then again, I wasn't paying much attention to anything else because the ride was intense! All I could think of was where's the next plateau?? This was one of the steepest inclines I've ever ridden and it wouldn't stop until I got to the top! But it's all worth it when you get to the top and take one of the single tracks to the many rocky peaks that exist up there. I did it in about 40 mins. but I hear the 'Good' rider can do it sub-30 mins. If you're an intermediate rider and are looking for a solid workout and a challenge, this is it! Sure beats any Santa Monica Mountain trails I've been on. Recommended Route: From Northridge, I headed West on 118 Fwy. and exited Rocky Peak Road. At the STOP sign, look for parking on the right culdesac. If it's full, park past the freeway overpass. Do Not Park on the overpass. I've heard people say that the cops give out tickets. I Started out from the main Rocky Peak Road trailhead and finished at the Rocky Peak. Very beautiful and quiet! Other recommended trails in the same area: From the junction at the top of the Rocky Peak, I hear if you continue straight, you'll meet up with the Chumash trail. If you turn right at the junction, there's a Rim of the Valley trail which is just as tough as the Rocky Peak Trail but longer. Something to think about when you've conquered the Rocky Peak!

Ridden Trail: Once a month

Reviewed by: atomkinder Summary: There are several single-tracks that stem from the Rocky Peak fire road. Hummingbird (the first "marked" single track that you'll come across) is a favorite. Tight switch-backs and rocky enough to put a grin on your face (not too technical). This is a shorter trail than most I usually ride so do a couple of shuttle runs to get maximum enjoyment. I've seen some folks ride UP the trail - now that is work! Haven't ridden Chumash or the others (they are much farther down the fireroad and require some uphill huffing). I've heard Chumash described as being very similar in nature to Hummingbird but a tad longer. Sounds good - will check it out soon. Anyway, this area is nice because the terrain is quite different from the usual mountain landscape, the locale is close to home and it offers great terrain for off-season DH training. Give it a go if your in the Simi Valley area. A great trail for shuttle runs but also a blast if your bike is setup with climbing gears. I've explored a few of the other "trails" which I describe as Recommended Route: 118 FWY West Rocky Peak exit Park near the trail gate or at other end of overpass-bridge
