Gabrielino Trail

This trail is best done as a one way shuttle to enjoy the long technical downhill ride. This ride is mostly technical singletrack with some fireroad and many fun stream crossings towards the end. Many challenges and obstacles test your skills from loose rock, roots, waterbars, tight exposed and off camber turns, swichbacks and rockgarden drop-offs. Its an all season great ride.

Summary:
(road)The trail from Chainy starts out with a road, but then about 3 miles up it turns to dirt. Just keep going all the way to the top and you come out on road(7 1/2 to 8 miles). Make a left on this road and you end up at Red Box. Find the Gab. Trail(south west end of the parking lot)and follow it down that way.
(single Track) This ride starts at the top of Lake Ave. in Altadena (get off the 210 at Lake and go North). The sigle track is about 2 1/2 miles up. Some steep short hills and lots of switch- backs. also there are some loose areas. When you get to the top you can go right and check out the view or just go left at the top and take the Mt. Lowe Railroad trail back to the Mt. Lowe Road. When you hit pavement (1 1/2 miles) turn right and the trail becomes the Mt. Lowe Fireroad. Take this to the top (past Inspiration Point) to Mt. Wilson. When you hit the road turn left and head down to Red Box. Take the gab down.

Recommended Route:
If you like to climb, ride this up from Chainy Trail in Altadena (all fire roads). If you like single-track ride the loop from the Lower San Merril(top of Lake Ave.), then to Inspiration Point, then on to Mt. Wilson.
