East Ridge Trail
4 reviews
 2.25 of 5

This trail has many very sharp switchbacks (kind of like Bear Mtn downhill) and is kind of steep and narrow. I would judge the uphill aspect as nearly un-doable (for me at least). But the downhill is really technical, narrow, dangerous, and fun! I have entered from the spur road off the Mt Lukens road described here - see mt lukens or haines canyon trails (about 1 mi east of the Lukens summit). The begining is really rough, but there are a small group of people rebuilding the trail so this will be repaired soon.

210 Freeway; exit Lowell Ave. Take Lowell Ave north to Santa Carlotta Ave. Turn right. Go 3-4 blocks east on Santa Carlotta to Dunsmore. Turn left(north). At the end of Dunsmore is the entrance to Dukemajan Park. Follow this road to a dirt parking lot. Enter the trails from opening in fence near abandonded stables and ride north. There are 3 "main" trails that come off this old road. Take the 2nd spur to the right (east)side of the valley, and follow the trail entrance at the left of the check dam.

Summary:
Really technical, narrow at times, but I took it slow at the recommendation of a friend and I had a lot of fun. Kind of scarry at times though.

Recommended Route:
Haines Canyon to road 1/2mile past radio towers

Summary:
I'm not sure what the previous two reviews are talking about, but I'm sure happy with this track. It is often steep and in some areas quite narrow (def not for the faint hearted) but other sections are almost wheelchair accessible. This is a very diverse track, and is very challenging trials type ridding. I have been on it 3x now and the best was right after a rain (better stopping traction).

Recommended Route:
Pickens spur to Dunsmore Canyon
