roughly one mile of wide fire roads with a bits of singletrack running along the fire road. many options are available, most of which are generally frowned upon by the authorities, but none have signs barring bikes. the skill level is beginner to intermediate

Trail Directions
land's end is the logical extension to any ride in golden gate park. when you come out of golden gate park on the western end, simply ride along the beach on the sidewalk up past the cliff house hotel and restaurant. you can either turn off at the parking lot or continue up to where the great highway turns into geary boulevard--there you will make a left into another parking lot. ride the road nto that parking lot bearing right, where you will turn onto the paved road which is gated and has a blue port-o-pot. ride along this road until you find a mild drop off to the left. bear right on this section, as it will lead you to a fire road which can lead you to a number of options, one of which will re-connect your ride to golden gate park somewhere along 33rd avenue. you'll have to ride with us locals to figure that one out if you already don't.

Summary:
riding lands end will stretch a golden gate park ride starting at the stanyun street entrance to about twelve to fourteen miles, depending on which route you'll ride. if you've got really big balls, you can ride golden gate park, lands end, the headlands and tam all in the same day. those of you reading this who are locals, give it a thought sometime. maybe we'll create a ride similar to day la marin--or whatever that solstice ride is called. at any rate, for those reading this whose balls are more or less normal, land's end is a good place to finish a bike date--or it's an exellent addition to a frantic paced night ride with all the little challenging bits thrown in. it's not all that technical for the most part, but there are a few little offshoots, connectors and stairways that require superior bike handling skills. lands end gets three tires for its virtue of stretching out a golden gate park ride and for its value as a training ground for inexperienced riders.
