Dutra, Sky, Gustin Ranch Open Space (Muir Land Trust)

Average Rating:    (3 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 1

Park on Franklin Canyon Rd (no parking available on Dutra Road).

Ridge a short section of paved road up (~750 ft) to end of the public right-of-way section of Dutra Rd. Enter through access gate to "Contra Costa County Feeder Road No. 1". Two (2) miles and 700 feet of moderately steep climbing brings you to the entrance of the Open Space. Approximately 4-5 miles of fire roads and about 1.5 miles of easy single track are available inside the open space.

Although not recommended, you can continue the 2-3 miles of the "Contra Costa County Feeder No. 1" to Pereira Rd (near Bear Creek Rd. However, past the open space the Feeder Road is poorly marked and maintained, and it is easy to get lost off the public easement ending up on private property.

Summary:
Good for a workout, not too technically difficult. Moderately steep fire road climb right off the bat. The ~1.5 mile section of single track is easy, but fun. A good beginner/intermediate single track. Although located on hill slopes, no big rock/logs to get over, and flat.

Recommended Route:
Only a couple of really loops to ride.
