Ridden Trail: Once a week

Weekend Warrior Summary: This is one of the best riding areas around St. Helena. Great singletrack, some downhill but I've never explored this area, small northshore section, dirt jumps, fire roads, and double track. Most of the riding is in the college property, but there are also some in the state forest area. Plenty of technical sections, some easy climbs. Never very crowded, and seeing others on trails is rare, but there are hikers, dogs, and horses, and parking is limited. Definitely go with someone who knows the area. You can find a map online but its not very helpful as it doesn't show a lot of the trails. Lots of poison oak so watch out. Recommended Route: For a good trail ride of singletrack, take 0.6 Mile to Creek Bed for a test of skills right of the bat. Then ride along the valley field fence towards The Maze. This is all killer singletrack, you just have to know which ones to take up and which to take down. Definitely hit Roller Coaster for a flying downhill singletrack. For a good downhill take Anqwish, but be prepared for a long fireroad climb back up. Angwish has an unmarked North Shore section that joins it 1/3 of the way down and has a different entrance. Other good trails include, Switchbacks, Rico's Singletrack, Bail Trail, and Gateway. But there are also plenty of unmarked jems. Other recommended trails in the same area: I've only ridden Bothe which is only two fire roads, and Skyline. Bothe is a waste of time and an entrance fee. Skyline, while it takes a long time to reach the tops of trails, offers very long and rewarding descents for those willing to climb.

Downhiller Summary: Las Posadas is a pretty good trail. It doesn't have many REAL downhill areas but there is a ton of so-so singletrack and some good jump areas. I have just entered the world of Freeride/Downhill from All Mountain and am craving a good challenge. I would recomend the rollercoaster to anyone who wants to do some fast freeriding. Also alot of the trails down from there are good. Recommended Route: angwin-turn left next to PUC college-go to end of road-start on trail at end of road entrance

, from Angwin Summary: Gentlemen please remove your hats and bow your heads for one of the greatest mountain biking parks has passed and gone. The vally's thirst for wine and unquenchable need for more grapes has thrust a dagger into the hearts of mountain bikers who have ever ridden here. I rode through just to see the "progress" of the land and I almost cried. What was once a curvacious, wooded wonderland is now a graded and flat wasteland. I can't bear to look at it anymore. Next year they will be putting in vines for wine grapes. Angwin is one of the best applations for wine grapes, but that doesn't do a damn thing for mt. bikers. Recommended Route: You can come, but there isn't anything here to ride Other recommended trails in the same area: Other trails? Other trails? Like this one? I

, from Angwin Summary: Privately owned, unless you actually live in the valley stay away. Recommended Route: I say stay away. Other recommended trails in the same area: PUC campus, all the urban you could want. That is privately owned but open to the public, ride it.
