Do not cross the bridge. Instead follow the fire road that parallels the creek up canyon for about 1 mile. You should pass a porta-toilet and a trailhead map. You'll crest a hill, get a really short downhill on the fireroad and reach the Anza singletrack on your right. Take this singletrack and make an immediate left after about 100 ft. start to climb. You will come to quite a few forks in the trail. try to stay on the Anza trail (most of the time youll take the left fork). You will soon pass a big rock formations on your left, you cant miss it. your climbing at about 100 ft / .1 mile. After the rock formation you will crest a small grassy knoll. at this point the valley your riding up will start to open up. At the top of this grassy knoll there is an unmarked trail that takes of to the left across steep, open green hillsides. take this left and ride for about 5 minutes to a trail marker. At this point, your at the trail marker, there is a steep hill on your right, not rideable. take this right, and push your bike to the top of this hill. youll come out on a fireroad, take another right and ride to coit road. Take a right on this road and ride 3.3 miles to Kelly lake. The steeper of the two trails is the kelly lake trail. thats the one u want. push up this for about a mile until u hit another road. take a right. follow road for .5 mile and take a left. this road goes to the top of Jackson peak.(the Jackson trail). From the top of Jackson peak the fireroad turns into singletrack, its downhill all the way back to the car. have fun.
First get a map. take 101 south to Gilroy. Find Gilroy hot springs road. Drive until you reach a bridge with a gate across it. This is the end of the rode, park here.
Summary: brutal climbing, i climbed for amost 1.5 hrs strait. the downhill is great, views are great. saw a wild pig and numerous redtailed hawks- very cool. great ride, but lots of climbing. Henry coe has lots of potential to be a classic xc area. much better than el corte de madera.
Recommended Route: anything in tahoe, mickey mouse
Other recommended trails in the same area: none i know of. tahoe, mickey mouse in auburn
