580 to 98th Ave exit, turn East (toward the hills), go straight onto Golf Links Bl until you reach the Grass Valley Staging Area at Skyline Bl and Golf Links.
Summary: I usually ride the Chabot trails two to three times a month. The trail system(s) are really fun! I've been riding there since I was itty bitty, even though I'm only 16 now. Recommended trail for intermediate riders. But fun for all!
Recommended Route: Take Brandon Trail (near golf course) up, then theres other trails!
Live Oak is an awsome downhill, but tiring to go up.
The main paived trails are usually packed with people walking on the weekends, so I recommend riding mostly in the back of the park.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Lots, since I live in the Bay Area, but too lazy to write them all.

Summary: There are multiple routs you can take, each route can make it longer or shorts no duh... Mostly fire road, but there are some single track but I have yet to find any "legal" ones. The hills have eyes (make volunteers out in the hills just looking for law breaking mtb’ers) so don’t go onto illegal single tracks unless you really want a ticket. Almost 100% fire road, it’s not bad though depending on the route it can either be all up hill or mostly dh. You choose.
Routs #1 Take west side of the park twards the dam go around the lake, east side and ride up LIVE OAK, its kinda funny (not for begginers) or down redwood road and up the back side, its a longer uphill but not nearly as steep as Live Oak.
Recommended Route: Start in the Lake Chabot staging area, off of Lake Chabot BEFORE the main entrance to the park. The trail head is past the the police station to the right. Take that all the way to redwood Road. (there are a few forks in the road but don’t take them just keep going straight, you will know if you are going the right way when the fire road is like a rollercoaster) Turn left on Redwood road, when you come to the willow peaks golf course turn left into it. The beginning of the trail is behind the club house against the hill you can't miss it. After some "nice" uphill you will come to a bench, go strait until you come to a small parking lot with a table and a port o potty (good place to catch your breath if you need to) Cross the road and take the trail down the hill. From here on out there are some nice fast turns, This is the fast dh route, just remember that you just climbed up the back side of Lake Chabot so now its time to go down hill. Just stay on the main trail. You will come to a water fountain and another bench, continue on the main trail and then make your way to the dam. I graded it a 3 for Technical because without proper braking you can end up in a tree.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Plesanton Ridge, Joaquin Miller Park

Summary: I live next to Anthony Chabot Park so I'm probably prejudiced in my opinion, but it's a fun, "middle ring" (for the most part) park. One of the reviewers mentioned Columbine and Cascade trails - be advised that they're currently off-limits to bikes and there are volunteers on the park district's hiking patrol who like nothing better than to spot and report violaters, using police radios to call them in to the district's officers. That being said, there are a number of fun fire road and single track combinations. Towhee Trail from behind the Chabot campground entrance is a fun if short ride. Redtail is swoopy single track with some fun rollers thrown in (as of today, a small portion of it is gone due to the heavy rains we had earlier, but 95% of it is still there and rideable). Chabot can be linked up to Redwood park for an epic 30+ mile ride. It can be ridden year round - of course there will be some mud, but the rain gets soaked up surprisingly well.
Recommended Route: Park on Lake Chabot Road, take the service road (or McGreggor Trail, a single track paralleling the road) up to where the police offices are (maps of all the parks are available there). Drop down McGreggor to Ten Hills trail for some short stinger climbs, but mostly fast rollers. Left at Brandon just before Ten Hills ends at Redwood Rd. This is a new trail and very cool. Follow Brandon (parallel to Redwood Rd.) to Willow Park Golf Course parking lot. Take Brandon up (1.5 miles, about 600' gain) to the top. Jump onto Redtail trail (may have to ride up the paved road a bit due to the washout) for some climbs followed by fast and fun rollers. Follow the trail across two street crossings and continue through Marciel gate. Redtail drops down to Grass Valley. You can continue on to Bort Meadows and then back along Brandon Trail to the Stone Bridge, up Brandon, then either (1)down Two Rocks to Lost Ridge (follow the paved road up, first right after the traffic bump), up to Quail trail and then to the campground entrance, or (2) continue on Brandon back to the top, drop down Towhee to the campground entrance and down and back along the lake.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Redwood Park, Joaquin Miller Park, Tilden/Wildcat Canyon parks, Del Valle Park, Briones Park,

Summary: This park has alot to offer even if you are a mountain biker. This is a ten mile loop of intermediate skill. Gradual fire road climb and twisty fun poachin' singletrack back. A second growth eucalupyus forest is the backdrop and you skirt the end of the lake.
Recommended Route: Park at Grass Valley Staging Area where Grass Valley Road becomes Skyline Blvd. Go thru the gate north of the lot there is a 3 way crossing travel strait down a 1/2 mile crossing a stone bridge and climb up Brandon Trail 2 1/2 miles stay clear of stray bullets from the marksman range. At the top you cross Marciel Road, go behind a hilltop, come around to view the ranger's headquarters, turn right this is Towhee Trail. After 3/4 of a mile you cross a paved road, bare right and go thru a black steel gate, go down and enter the singletrack on the right, this goes for 1 1/2 miles then you come out on a fire road up to a T, bare right, then 300 yards take a left on Columbine Trail good for almost 3 miles stay to the right to Cascade Trail to Stonebridge then the little climb out and you're done.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Redwood, Joaquin Miller

Summary: I have ridden at Lake Chabot twice.
Each time was a bad experiance.
You would think that since it is close to the lake that it would be cool, it isn't.
The trails in general had very loose/thick sand- un-ridable. You would have to walk it.
I don't recommend this area for mountain biking at all. Drive somewhere else.
Other recommended trails in the same area: other trails in area that is better is RedWood in Oakland is much nicer, cooler and worth the drive- its only ~15-20min further up.
