Barbeque Terrace
3 reviews
 4.33 of 5

Barbeque Terrace is a wide fire road which has a few creek crossings. The first 2.5 miles go up and down through a nicely wooded area, the last 2 miles gain 1000' and are wide open to the elements. This trail is really just a means of getting half way up Mt. Diablo or working into a loop with some other trails, like Wall Point.

Summary:
This lung buster is in my backyard. The last 1.75 miles are straight up and filled with loose rocks (in the summer). The views are stunning and the ride down is better. The flats before the creek crossings are speedy. Combining this with Wall Point makes for a great 20 mile+ loop. It's all fire roads, but isn't it rubber tires on dirt that's important, senor single trak?

Recommended Route:
End of Sutherland is entry for Briones/Mt. D trail-- it leads to Pine Canyon and BBQue Terr.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
BBQue Terr's sister-- Wall Point.

Summary:
Its a good trail if you want to test your endurance. There is a lot of climbing going up. And good downhill coming down with all sorts of twists and turns. I would not go on this trail if you have ANY problems with your bike. Check all your parts because this trail is rocky and its bound to knock out a loose screw. Also, I would not ride it if you cant control your bike on loose gravel. There are a lot of good views from this trail and at the bottem, a series of cool creeks to cool you down!

Recommended Route:
I just took the trail from Castlerock and followed it up
