Start out with fast fireroad, two high-speed turns, sweet technical singletrack, turns into steep scary technical singletack, few drop-offs (DH gear recommended). Fast, steep and very techincal. It will drop you off at Highway 1, on the beautiful Pacifica Coast. Dual suspension also recommended.
Fine Sneath Lane off Highway 35. Go up Sneath Lane to the dead end. You will see the entrance to Sweeney Ridge Trail (paved). Ride up approximately 1.5 miles. You will see the entrance to your left approx. 40 yards away (all off-road).
Summary: technical single track to an immediate drop with landing. leads into a series of well built free ride jumps, drops, turns& burms. goes a few switchbacks and optional step-ups into four or five log built drops. stay out of the bushes because its nearly entirely poison oak. xc bikes can find a more relaxed place to ride
Recommended Route: i've done it a few times on an all mountain, but dh def recommended. i took a friend on a hardtail and he walked al few sections. quick, nearly paved, fire road up to the top with a few wallrideish xc bs on the way up. once you hit the powerlines you can either go left to get a little more warmed up from single track. or hit right straight to free ride. the side trail on the left is a pretty dirty.
Other recommended trails in the same area: north oakland.

Summary: The guy before me is on some kind of power trip. The trail is NOT closed, and will NOT be closed! This trail is pretty much a fire road until you reach the bottom near Highway 1. It's no "world cup pro downhill" or whatever the hell one of the guys said before me. I xcountry ride, and I can bomb down the trail in 10 minutes at the most no problem. Truthfully It's really not worth the climb unless you enjoy riding uphill.
Recommended Route: Go all the way up sneath from 35, ride up the Sweeny Ridge paved trail. When you get to the top of the ridge take a left onto the dirt, and you will see a sign on your right.
Other recommended trails in the same area: There is none, they all suck!

Summary: The mile has sections of world cup pro downhill with extreme rocky sections. cross the paved trail, and head down "boy scout" which has tons of different lines availible, and several huge jumps, also some extremely technical root sections. You are in the jungel you it is cool. this dumps you into a small jump right onto the road.
Recommended Route: skip the "crack" and go straight to the "mile", this has intense drops and extreme technical sections.
Other recommended trails in the same area: skip "the crack" it is not all that it's "cracked" up to be!! haha

Summary: I wouldn't waste my time riding XC here. There's no singletrack and it's relatively boring. If you're into DHing or freeriding, the shuttle runs are wicked. It's a good hour to hour 1/2 walk/push/ride to the top but the downhill is worth it. You can try 'The Crack' but pushing up it is a b:tch and if you haven't got the skills, you'll get hurt coming down. The rest is steep, rutted trails which are fun. My favorite is when you get into the woods... lots of dirt jumps and big drops with tight, sweeping turns. Very cool.
Recommended Route: Once you've managed to ride/push/carry your DH/Freeride (that's what you should be riding) bike up to the top, take a deep breath and prepare to bomb down the whole thing.
