Summary:
As rinky-dink as this trail is, it is fun. The downside is it's in the middle of the road, the upside is easy access to smooth and flowing singletrack. Also, it's perfectly legal. It gets more technical as your speed increases, but it's still pretty easy. Watch out for runners and don't listen to their complaints since the trail is not in a park and therefore access is not defined, but still ride with courtesy.

Summary:
This loop is why I ride. Great views down the canyon, soaring hawks, and a cool jewel of singletrack. Follow the directions above, stop to admire the grandeur of nature and have fun coming down. When you hit the short (40 yds), STEEP pitch next to the fence with the barking dogs behind it, go through the gate at the top. That'll be the 2ND stable you come to, not the first. OR continue to the dead end. Have some grins for me!

Recommended Route:
Park at the Grass Valley staging area at the junction of Skyline & Grass Valley Blvds. Go through the gate on the left and take the middle trail, Goldenrod, to the second stable. Go through the opening in the fence and down the drive to Skyline. Hit that narrow, rooty, gully of a single track, jump on the fire road to your right and finally dart back onto Goldenrod at the first stable you passed on the way up. Great quick ride.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Chabot Loop.

Summary:
This is a really cool singletrack for intermediates and below if you live in the Oakland-Berkeley area. Not worth traveling to from afar. There's something extra fun about ripping down this trail and having the drivers stare at you in wonderment. I especially like it after a rain. You can easily connect to Chabot Regional Park which is right across the street.

Recommended Route:
trail runs in the very wide, wild median strip on Skyline Bl. Major cool.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Chabot Loop
