There is a variety of everything at rockville, but the best is the legal singletrack. There is some technical spots, but it is a blast. The entire park is bike friendly & all the trails are legal. The park is small, only about 1 mile square so just pick a trail & go for it, they all evenutally loop back together.

Summary:
I ride here probably once a month. Has definitely helped me hone in my abilities. Very well kept trails. I'd estimate at least 12 miles of total single track in this park, none, other than the rock garden too difficult for new-intermediate riders.

Recommended Route:
Lots of single track, any one works. Any right or left will do, they all result in the same, an enjoyable couple hours on singletrack.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Annadelle SP. Skyline Ridge

Summary:
The majority of the trails in the 640 acre park are singletrack, weaving through dense Oak, Chaparral and grassland, a segment of which belongs to the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Wildflowers can be seen in abundance in the spring along the trail sides. The trail beds are mostly composed of a thin layer of soil over volcanic rock and granite which means that most trails are ride worthy year-round, even in pouring rain.

A map is available at www.bikecal.com/mtb/images/rockvillemap.jpg.

Meandering around the park aimlessly is just as productive as having a set route. There are several short steep sections in areas that may require dismounting but Rockville can be enjoyed by cyclists of all levels. Trails are clearly marked as to difficulty and type of obstacles that may be encountered.

If you are especially looking for technical trails, work the Rock Gardens, Quarry Trail (aka mini-Moab), Upper Tilley and Manzanita trails into your route. There are many others but these are the most advanced trails in the park.

The trails are regularly maintained by RATS – Rockville Alternative Transportation Society, and many have been designed or rerouted by IMBA and Jim Jacobsen within recent years. RATS invites trail volunteers to join them on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

This park is a great example of a working shared use park. Horses and smoking are prohibited and while the trails are often used by hikers, runners and dog walkers, there are very few trail conflicts (if any).

Recommended Route:
Rockville Hills in Fairfield is an important park to cyclists looking for technical, narrow singletrack with rocky soil composition that holds up well in even heavy winter rains.

A $2 day pass is required (monthly and 6-month passes are available) for park use and an additional fee is required for dogs. Electronic machines vend the pass by using either cash or a debit card.

To get there from the East Bay, take I-680 across the Benicia Bridge and continue onto I-80 east. Stay right on the ramp and take Suisun Valley Road (exit 41). At the foot of the ramp, turn north (left) onto Suisun Valley Road. Drive about 1.5 miles, and then turn left onto Rockville Road at the traffic light. Drive about 0.7 mile, and turn left into the parking lot.

FOUND: 10/29/06 a pair of gloves - sized large. You left them by the entry turnstile. Picked them up and tried to find you but never did... If you contact me, and ID the gloves (color and brand) and who you were riding with, I can mail them back to you.

That Sunday was a great day at Rockville! Dirt was near perfect, the rockiest sections were not quite all cleanable and it was all fun!

Summary:
This place may be small (1 square mile), but there are tons of trails. I would say if you did every trail here, it would add up to be about 20 miles, not to mention going different directions on each trail. Some of the trails, especially the ones on the south side I believe they are called Tilley's trail, are extrememley difficult. I've ridden Upper Bidwell, Annadale, Downieville, etc. and the rocky sections of Rockville are more difficult than these trails, by far. To sum it up, I love this little park and would recommend it to anyone from advanced riders to beginners.

Recommended Route:
The map is kinda confusing, but the park is small so just ride and take a left and a right here and there till you think you've done everything.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Annadla, Boggs Mtn, Foresthill, Pioneer

Summary:
Just a correction to my review below: for a trail map do not try the City of Fairfield website. They have info but no maps. Go to www.rockvillepark.org and click on maps. The map has trail names shown.
