Kirby's Cove

high speed fire road--easy enough for novices. this is a ride to get some dirt in if you're too tired or lazy to climb up to the coastal fire road and the marin headlands. in other words, an across-the-bridge-down-up-and-back. there are picnic benches at the bottom, which has a great vista of the entrance to san francisco bay, the golden gate bridge and the city. camping facilities are also available there but you have to make reservations with the national park service way ahead of time.

Summary:
this trail is prettyt easy but the lose gravel and rocks can be a killer if you slid off the cliff. there is a side trail about a third of the way down which leads to other bunkers. The only real problem whith this trail is cars are frequnt during summer.

Recommended Route:
take the golden gate bridge over to the bunker/bridge overlook. there is a gate which is the start of the trail.
