Dan Cook (Mt. Diablo St. Park)
13 reviews

Once you get on this single-track look out for hikers, or fellow bikers burrolowing down this trail. The single track goes along for about a mile , it eventually leads you into a fire Road (Dan Cook). Then put your bike in its Granny Gear and just motor up the trail. When you get to the top of the fire trail keep going up the paved road you run into. When you level out you are at Rock City. If you have never been here before its worth the time to hike around and check out this place. Once done with your explorations....... turn around, shift down , and hold on. (Oh and by the way watch out for the S turn, Unless you like to drop off cliffs)

Trail Directions
There are several ways to get to the trail-head but, the easiest way is to take the El Cerro exit off the 680 Freeway. Go East for about 2-3 miles until you pass Diablo Country Club. After DCC you will run inot a Stop Sign. Go left at the stop and travel along this road for about a mile. Right as you begin to travel up Mt. Diablo you will see a small single-track on the left. It is poorly marked, but if you pay attention its right across from a swinging metal gate on your right. You can usually park your car right at the trail head but, you might have to back track to find a space.

Summary:
I have to say, i really enjoy this trail, although it's definitely too short. currently, i'm using it as a weekly after-work ride. the singletrack after the bridge (when heading downhill) is beautiful, with enough quick turns to make sure you're paying attention. i'm a really big fan of the XC stuff i've seen out at Mt Diablo. it's always very scenic, rolling, and fun.

Recommended Route:
start on the flat pavement at the bottom, well outside the gate, ride up the approx 1300' in 3.1 miles to the trailhead (cant rememember the parking lot name, lower something), and then barrel down. turn left at the bridge.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
bbq terrace to wall point.

Summary:
I don't have much uphill endurance so I usually have a friend drive my truck to Rock City and drop me off and meet me at the bottom. That way I don't even have to pedal.

Recommended Route:
Get dropped off at rock city

Anywhere I can get a ride to.

Summary:
It's a pretty fun trail to just bomb down using no brakes. The wierd rock formations are kind of ufn to bounce off of. Take a left at the bridge to the single track. it's pretty fun way to end your ride on Mt. Diablo. It's kind of short, not worth a long drive obviously.

Recommended Route:
from rock city, take it down to the front gate.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Fireroads. Dude, tyler, if you have issues keep them to yourself. You broke your arm. Get oer it. It's your fault. Not the trails. Or the website. Yours. Don't yell at everybody else about it. And how the hell do you fall on this trail. I was going 30 and had tons of control.
