Holland Mountain

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

Same start as the Jeep Trail,up the Salt Creek fire road.(ugly climb). At the corral go NE up to top area of Holland Mountain. Trail heads NW from pond, out around west peak. At first fork on singletrack, dive down right. This trail is steep, swift singletrack that has a wonderful flow. It drops several hundred feet to an access road for a SCE flume. Left and down hard on the SCE road to the huge flat turnout. Over to the west edge more fast, swoopy, and steep stuff. At the next fire road (your old friend, Salt Creek again) a few yards down on the right side, is the entrance to Screen Door, one of the fun lower sections. Transition into Back Porch, Sidewinder and you are down at the pond. You better take a guide. No maps as yet. This ride is as challenging as the Jeep Trail, and immensely expands the riding possibilities in the Three Rivers- Visalia area.

Summary:
This place really seems to have it all, downhill,xc,technical, not to mention the gorgeous scenery. I've been riding here every weekend for the last six months and I still have only been on maybe 25% of the trails. Someone has taken some time and built some really nice bridges on some of the trails. There is a map of this place in the center of the home page of Visalia Cyclery (skyline map).

Recommended Route:
Take HWY 198 east to Three Rivers. Approx. 3 miles into town take Skyline to the right. The road forks a few hundred yards up,stay left. Follow Skyline all the way up til the blacktop ends and you're at the gate.

I road this trail on 2/11/07. Very nice, I can tell that some work has been put into it. I found it challenging yet very rewarding. I plan to ride it again soon.

Summary:
I have been riding this area weekly for a year. I still havn't found every trail yet! I'm recording all these with my GPS and will make a map of the area this summer.

This is a great addition to a great riding area. I would live to see more people riding here.

Recommended Route:
The trail splits on the North side of the hill. Go down like the directions say. I went straight and the trail ends. I hope it gets finished soon.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Jeep Trail, All the way to the top to the big trees, Up and over to the South Fork Road.

Summary:
This trail down Holland mountain will make it "decision time" when you get to the corral!! Do I turn left and up or right and down, ooooo so many trails and sooo little time. The view of the high sierra's is stellar when you are up at top getting ready for the downhill that is a twisty treat that will get the brakes smokin and the face grinning. Keep your eyes open on the way down for any ducks that might indicate any new trails branching off because I have a feeling there will be more to come. Thanks Randy- - -
