Cascade Loop
1 reviews
 5 of 5

For the loop ride up fire road 24N21X 1.4 miles until you see a dirt road with red flagging to the left. This road will climb about 300ft where the single track bisects this road. Go right on the single track and enjoy the ride. It weaves through trees and across meadows and onto a dry creek bed. After the creek bed will eventually pop out back on to a fire road. Go left a few hundred feet where the fire road begins to climb to the left. The singletrack begins again to the right through some bushes here. This is the second section of smooth quick singletrack. Eventually you will spit out onto another fire road. You''ll have to hairpin left here and follow the fire road for about a half mile doing some mild climbing. You should get to a saddle in the ridge where you''ll notice a quad trail going straight ahead. This section will be downhill with a few tight switchbacks so watch yourself. Once you get to the bottom you''ll notice Spanish Creek. This is near the end of the beautiful scenic main cascade trail. Follow this trail down stream. There are a couple really narrow sections on this trail so be careful not to loose it and slide downhill into the creek. Right at the main rapids of Spanish Creeks cascades you''ll have to dismount and hike across the some jagged rocks. After this point the trail progressively becomes easier until you reach the main Cascade trailhead. Follow the dirt road until you hit pavement. Go to the left and up the hill a little ways until you''re back at your car.

Trail Directions
Take Highway 70 north from quincy about 6 miles to Old Highway on the right. Once you reach the T intersection with fire road 24N21X park here to begin the loop. You can also just ride the main Cascade trail if you continue down Old Highway until it makes a switchback. Drive straight down the rough dirt road to the trailhead. If you can try to pick up a map from the bikeshop.

Summary:
Some Things I forgot to mention. This trail really is a beatutiful, mostly easy, cross country piece of single track. Aside from the climb in the beginning it's mostly flat with a little downhill. Once you get down to the Cascade part next to Spanish Creek it gets a little technical but still mostly easy. It's a great afternoon ride and generally takes an hour or 2.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are some other sick downhill trails around Quincy, like Claremont Cable Trail, or Mt Hough Trail. Eventually I'll post them on here. Best way to get to them is directions and a map from the bike shop. I think they may even do a shuttle eventually which would be totally worth it.
