Elliots Crossing on the Rubicon River (South East of Auburn)

A 20 mile out and back which is 100% singletrack climbing along the hills and countryside near the Ribicon River. This trail is a good mix of just about everything, smooth fast singletrack, technical riding, rolling hills, and beautiful countryside. The trail is pretty remote so it doesn't get the traffic that a lot of other trails get which makes it more appealing to me. If you are in the area it's worth the drive. Check out the photo's and longer ride description on the listed website.
Elliots Crossing is about 1 hour 45 minutes east of Sacramento along the Rubicon River. We took Highway 49 to Cool and turned east down 193 past Georgetown. About 20 miles past Georgetown, we missed the turnoff for the Rubicon River and continued on for another 10 miles. The turn is about 1 mile BEFORE the turnoff for Uncle Toms so if you see a sign for Uncle Toms youve gone too far and need to turn around (Bretts driving directions are a bit dated). We turned around and eventually found the turnoff for access to the Rubicon River. The road descends into the valley for about 5 miles then there is a big bridge, which crosses the Rubicon River. We crossed the bridge and parked on the far side. There is plenty of parking on both sides of the road, but you need to watch for campers.
Summary: Rode this several years ago. From what I remember it was a good trail and generally fits the description above. It is "way out" though, and I wouldn't suggest doing it alone (like I did)
Recommended Route: It's easy to follow
Other recommended trails in the same area: There's some stuff around Bald Mtn/Rock Creek if I remember correctly. I went on a guided ride out there once and it was pretty cool, there are some long climbs and descents if you know where to look. I rode out there a few times by myself and found some of the same stuff that I rode on the first ride.
