Clark Trail
9 reviews

New trail in the making. Mr. Clark is spending 2-3 days a week cutting new single track. All help with clearing way and packing trail appreciated. Follow river east along the north bank. Stay close to river where you can. when you reach the golf course, stay outside the white boundry poles. Lots of single track potential between golf course and river. Let's not get run off. Please be courteous. Continue following river all the way to Dry Creek, turn north and follow creek to existing trails from Kerwin Park to Claus Rd.

Summary:
It is a single track along the river that is well shaded for these hot Modesto summers. It is not much but it is fun. It has some tight sections along the ledge of the river but it is a really easy trail to ride. If you want to make it interesting pedal hard and don't fall into the river!

Summary:
Paved bike path with some nice singletrack. Trails can be ridden fairly quickly if you're short on time. Probably best to begin your ride at East La Loma park (near El Vist Ave. ) and go east as there are more trails in this direction.

Recommended Route:
Follow the singletrack trails near the creek (they mostly parallel the paved path). Some of the trails are narrow with steepish drop ins and exits but are fun, fast, and swoopy. East of the park there are trails on the hillside bordering the golf course.

You can also go west for more singletrack but there is more variety to the east.

Summary:
This is the best thing in Modesto for trail riding and for BMX style jumping. I'm from

Recommended Route:
For out of towners: From Highway 99 get off on Hatch Rd. and go EAST. Turn left at Mitchell Rd. If you keep driving Modesto Airport will be on your left. At this point, take the second RIGHT (not sure about the street name). If you keep going through a stop light and a couple stop signs there will be a park on your right. Park here. Get on your bike and pedal to the end of the street until it abruptly veers off into a residential area. There will be a paved entrance to the trail at this dead end. Go down to the bottom of the hill. At this point, go right to get to off-road single track. Just keep your eyes open for small trails, they run close to the water and go for miles. Also, you'll find the small BMX style jumping "park" about a half mile into the ride if you stay to the left and take the dirt trails. Be careful and wear a helmet!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Hogan Trail in Valley Springs, but ONLY when the weather is below 70 degrees. There are no trees going around the reservoir and it is HOT. Not too much else in the valley. I recommend Sly Park in the Auburn hills for fun and not too hard single track.

Summary:
just moved to the valley, and am trying to find cool places to ride somewhat close. I'm finding out the closest cool stuff is atleast an hour away. This place was ok when there is nothing else to do. Very cool place to take the very, very beginner. The trail is mostly along the river with one portion next to the golf course, the advanced and intermediate riders will find this place not challenging at all. mostly single track with a couple jumps only a few miles up and back. I didn't have any problems with the homeless. didnt see any directly on the trail and it looked pretty well maintained. Much props to the guys who put that trail together. I think two chilis are right about the right score for this trail because it just seemed to flat for me.

Recommended Route:
i parked at johansenn high school on claus rd. and rode up the street to the river. there is a paved trail on the right side that will take you under the bridge. look for the single track along side of the river. the trail bounces up and down and alongside the river. Some times it bounces out alongside the paved trail, dont worry keep going and you'll see the trail drop back in alongside the river.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
hum?????? well the pacheco park was cool. pretty hot and dry during the summer. bring lots of water.

Summary:
Well due to lack of support from the city at keeping homeless camps out of the area, the trail is just about closed. The homeless camps litter and block the trails and really takes away from the joy of off road riding. The locals who were trying to maintain the trail have given up. This NOT the trail along Dry Creek, but along the Tuolumne River.

Recommended Route:
Just stay away until we get a little back up from the city

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Dry Creek/La Loma
