Buck Ridge Area of Hensley Lake
3 reviews
 3.33 of 5

Not so much a single trail as it is a slew of trails. Lots of singletrack, something that looks similar to a fire road (but not quite, more like two wheel tracks), some soft and loose areas, several ruts, plenty of up- and down-hill. Since there are so many "trail options" one can chose his or her own path: up a hill or around a hill, continue riding or head back to the trailhead, etc.. Elevation of the area runs between 500 and 800 feet. VERY LITTLE SHADE so riding in the heat of a summer afternoon isn't recommended. There are views of Hensley Lake from the many hills. (Skill Level rating should be both Beginner and Intermediate but that wasn't an option.)

Summary:
As stated in other revies not a beginner course. There are a few short, but steep uphills. Also spring to early summer, the lake level is higher so parts of the trail get flooded. Fun downhills, with some creek jumps. Some tough climbing, and a few technical spots. There are so many side trails you could spend all day out there. Very fun trail, challenging as well as entertaining. A hint on parking... just park at the pay booth and ride your bike the 100 yards in. Save the $4,and get more exercise.

Recommended Route:
Many side trails, but the main loop is great. If you are not up to challenging climbs take the left fork, and then come back on the right side.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Lake Millerton, 007, Tour de Granite at Shaver Lake.

Summary:
Good trail for the beginner rider looking to get a good cardio workout. Single track with some double track. Not very technical but has a few challenges throughout the ride.

Good for biking in the fall as it can be very dusty in the summer.

Recommended Route:
Take a right at the first fork.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
007 at Norfolk.

Summary:
this trail is only really fun if you are a cross country rider, or if you just like going up and down. there are two jumps on the trail. one jumps you over a water rut and the other launches you down a steep downslope about 15 feet. if you enjoy going downhill extremely fast! don't come to this trail.

Recommended Route:
highway 41

Other recommended trails in the same area:
sky harbor
