Cross Country Rider Summary: I love Bidwell Park and all the hazards it brings to you. Coming from Sonoma County I was shocked by its landscape at first glance but after six months of riding, hiking and learning the lines I have to say Upper Bidwell is one of my favorites places. I love to stand at the edge of that canyon, believe me, I wish to be there right now, the openness filling is awesome. Any trail in UB will test your skills, even the easy sections here are so technicals that in other parks it will be described as an intermediate skills level sections. It is not about the rock, is about to surf on those trails up and down surviving every second. This is a place where you don't want to crash, if you loose your line you'll pay the price... Just keep your line and enjoy... Recommended Route: Finally I put together what I call a beginners ride. A 11 miles loop playing with the Elevation: Park on Hooker Oak park/go toward the dry creak/go right toward the bridge/climb to the fire road and go left/left on the single track thats take you to middle trail trail head/go on middle trail and merge L on unnamed ST that takes you toward the park boundary/ follow the Single Track that runs beside the park boundary untill is finished/ R on NR trail for a bumpy down hill/ after the power lines merge L on manzanita trail/ back on NR trail for the rest of the DH? merge L on middle trai ang go all the way after you pass the power lines/ merge L for a stip and short DH/ R on lower trai/ go acroos the parkin and around horse shoe lake/L on midde trai again go all the way/back on the ST for your car. Other recommended trails in the same area: You have to go to Feathers Falls for a great scenic and easy ride...

Cross Country Rider Summary: Start downtown and ride the lower park road into the Upper park for a great warm up and head up the North Rim at the "cross" parking lot. The fence line trail is a bit faster (read smoother) for those without immense travel on either end. Get to the end and drop into the B trail. Good stuff. Lots of poison oak in the spring. Hit the park road and take a left to the end of the road. Sit in the grass and pull off the shoes and cross the creek (VERY cold in March). Head up the trail and stay to the left at the "10 mile house" area head off to the right on the single track. Great trail. Continue on this to the old pistol range or cross at Bear Hole. Very careful the cycling cleats are very slippery on this type of basalt. Recommended Route: See above. Other recommended trails in the same area: Oroville Dam area is similar but not as technical.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Technical, rocky singletrack. Fun climbs and descents on both the North and South sides of the creek. Downhill and freeride mostly on south rim side. North rim to Live Oak trails is a great XC ride. Ride the Bidwell Bump race in September for some very burly XC racing. Recommended Route: see above Other recommended trails in the same area: Green gate to Bloody Pin trail off hwy 32 in Upper Bidwell, also Bidwell Bump race course.

Cross Country Rider Summary: Correction on above summary. I'm originally from Chico, and have ridden Upper Bidwell Park for 15 years. It's Big Chico Creek not Butte Creek. I still ride Upper Bidwell Park every year on at least one of my vacations. Recommended Route: All are very good!!! Other recommended trails in the same area: See Above
