Cross Country Rider Summary: This trail is a pretty fun training ride that can kick your butt if you incorporate enough fire road uphills. There are a couple different options you can do when you get here. You'll just have to explore like I did! This trail is close to Los Banos, so if you're a bike junkie and live in the area, it's definitely worth a trip to San Luis Reservoir. If you're traveling down the 5 in California, you have your bike with you, and you want a good ride to give your legs a break from driving, then it's a good idea to stop. Recommended Route: Start at the trailhead and contour the lake for apx 3/4 of a mile. Take a right at your first fire road. Climb the short hill and bail off the road onto the trail to the right. Follow the singletrack for apx. 2-3 miles. Take a right on the fire road and an immediate right on the unimproved (a little bit better than a game trail) trail. Follow this around the peninsula and hook back up with some real singletrack. Do the short technical climb toward the beacon tower at the top of the hill. Descend the hill on fire road and take a left on the singletrack you came in on and follow it back to the trailhead. Other recommended trails in the same area: Dinosaur Pt.
