Weekend Warrior Summary: Went to go for a ride today and after a little rain yesterday Whiting Ranch was closed - any one know what trials in the socal area are open after rain? Gotta hate these harsh California winters!

, from Orange Summary: Not very difficult but is actually pretty fun. Quite a bit of singletrack if you follow my route. Borrego is full of dips, stream crossings, and rocky washes to keep you entertained before the burn of Mustard Road. From four corners at the top it's mostly downhill. Cactus is a somewhat technical singletrack steep at first but begins to level out after a short distance, and from there it is mostly winding and undulating single/double track with dips and stream crossings until you hit Portola. It's a blast to ride once in a while, but seems short. Worth a weekend morning though! I guess it's about 7 miles and you should be able to do it in about an hour. Add 30 minutes if you're out of shape or a beginner. Beginner - Intermediate Recommended Route: From shopping center follow Borrego trail to a fork. Go right onto Mustard Road up to four corners. From four corners take the fire road (that goes down) to the right and turn left after 50ft or so onto a single track descent (Cactus Run). Go left at fork at the bottom and climb up a short but steep winding road and follow single track out to a fireroad at the bottom. Take a right onto the first singletrack you see that leads back into the woods and follow that to a fork where you turn right. This leads back to Portola Pkwy where you turn right and go back to the Shopping center. For more riding go left at four corners and follow the trail down to Santiago Canyon road, go right, and make a left onto a very steep paved road called Modjeska Grade and up to a trail head at the top. See the reviews for Santiago Truck Trail to Old Camp and the Luge. Other recommended trails in the same area: Santiago Truck Trail to Old Camp, Luge can be incorporated into same ride. Aliso Woods, Holy Jim, Chutes, San Juan Trail.

, from Chandler, AZ Summary: This trail starts off Great and then goes to OK. Nice Dips, a water hazzard or two and some mud was part of this experience. We rode this trail about 5 days after a heavy rain and the lows were still wet. Some of the climbs were semi-washed out. The hill to the top was a hike a bike for one of us, but we saw other riders peddling up. Great veiw, nice trees, and some wildlife. Mostly fireroads. Too little single track. Recommended Route: From Vons, from Portola

, from Los Angeles,Ca Summary: Not bad. I would rate this traol as a beginner ride. Although there is a pretty tough climb halfway through it is mostly fireroad and has very little singletrack. Not technical by any standard. You can bomb the downhill section (I hit speeds of 25mph at some spots)but really need to pay attention to the hikers using the trail. Stay on the marked paths as not all of them are for bike use. The loop that I took was about 45 mins to an hour in length moving at a very moderate pace. You will find maps located at the parking lot. The 2 bucks you paid to park goes back into the trail and it shows. Recommended Route: 405 south to Bake Pkwy. Turn left at Bake and follow up the hill. The trailhead is in the large parking lot just down from Vons. Put 2 bucks in the machine to get a parking slip or be towed.
