, from Antelope Summary: I rode this twice with a friend. Since my buddy is an XC geek with no more than 3 inches of travel and I ride a bike with no less than 5 inches of travel, I was pretty bored. It was fun dodging runners and walkers. I found a nice rock face to descend and that was fun but I can't remember where it exactly is. Other recommended trails in the same area: Salmon Falls/Mickey Mouse, Clementine Loop,

, from Cameron Park Summary: I usually get on a single track trail from the main road after the entrance. Follow the trail and you will go through a gate barrier. Turn to the left and ride. You will encounter a few up and downs, lefts and rights with sand. Be careful because you may encounter joggers around a sharp turn. Follow until you get to the Folsom Dam road, or you can try some of the many narrow trails that branch from the main. Mileage depends on the route you take. I usually clock around 8-12 miles per ride. This is a good ride for the beginners and remember the sand can be slippery. Recommended Route: I do the same and take the Douglas Rd. until I get to the entrance. Other recommended trails in the same area: Salmon Falls, Sweetwater and Trails around Mormon Island.

, from Sac, CA Summary: Want more of a challenge? pick up the speed! Some tight turns and loose sand will test your mettle. Not much in the way of big rocks. A great trail that suits my style! Great views, nice single track and a loop! Recommended Route: Started at Granite bay near the damn. Followed the bike trail until it became unpaved. Keep on going and you'll get to some fun wide hills with great views of the lake. Eventually, some great single track. Other recommended trails in the same area: Me likey Sweetwater!

Ridden Trail: Once a week

Reviewed by: Jonesy Boy
, from Granite Bay Summary: I live near the lake so I ride this trail a lot. I'm not sure I'd ride it more than once a month if I had to drive to it. It's fairly flat. Not a lot of climbing. I've taken my daughter on it several times with her trail-a-bike (Dad gets a great calf workout on these rides!). Since it's relatively flat (with a few short climbs) my wife also enjoys this ride (two "stars" right there!). So it's great for beginners, but most intermediate/advanced riders won't find many challenges. Recommended Route: Climb up Mooney Ave. to the top o/t ridge, go straight through the stopsign, turn rt. at the intersection with the lower ridge road, continue for >1/4 mile until the park entrance on your left. Navigate/bomb your way down the steep slope (carefully!) turn left on the lake fireroad. Stay on the trail to the left as the fireroad ends as you reach the parking lot, then make an immediate right on the singletrack with the stones on either edge marking the path (if you go past the "bread-and-butter" around the large tree here, you'll just end up on Douglas Blvd. just turn around and stay to your left this time). Now just follow the signs, this is a well marked trail with lots of transitions so keep your eye out for the posted routes.
