, from Manteca, CA Summary: The trails were fun intermediate stuff. Lots of climbing. But that means lots of downhill too...:-) There were a number of hikers and a handfull of bikers out, but by no means congested. The trails also had a bit of weather damage from draining water and such, pretty bumpy... Recommended Route: Starting at the Oak Tree Staging area on Foothill Rd. we followed the fire road up oak tree trail. At the first fork we were told by some hikers that the best route is to stay left and follow oak tree to theramlito trail. So we stayed left and followed oak tree, however we opted to head up ridgeline trail. We followed that to marker 16 then caught the fire road to marker 15, this connected us to thermalito. Ridgeline was to tough. Beautiful, just too much climbing. Thermalito was great. Followed that to marker 20 and turned around anxious to hit the downhill. Thermalito had its share of ups and downs, just not to the extent of Ridgeline. These were much more enjoyable.

, from p-town Summary: the fire-raod begining isn't too steep. and the beginning is the hardest part. if you follow the fence the trail gets hard. the trail is for every skill level. if you just want a fairly easy ride this is the trail. but it is still easy to kill yourself if thats what your into. go on the trail that follows the fence, itis the hardest one. Recommended Route: cool trail,a little short

, from Pleasanton (then) Houston (now) Summary: I used to ride this trail all the time since it was an easy jaunt from home. Going up Longpoint gets the uphill done with faster and blasts the legs good as well. I grew to like it. There's singletrack if you want to steal it but not a lot. I would usually take the fireroad back east along the ridge where you can get some blazing speed relatively uniterupted. If you descent the Longpoint route, it's steeper but, in my opinion, not quite as "flowing". Anyway, a great trail to hit in the evening if you live in P-town, I'm now in Houston (flat town) and miss it dearly. Although Utah is even better... Recommended Route: I usually go up longpoint or whatever it's called since the downhill is longer going along the ridge towards the park entrance. It's faster as well.
