Cross Country Rider Summary: I have taken a quad on this trail while hunting. It is EXTREME. It took me two hours on a quad and many places i had to get of and walk around obstacles. You seriously have to be sick in the head to want to ride this trail more than once.

Ridden Trail: Ridden Once

, from Westwood, CA Summary: I drove this road in a 4WD about 15 years ago and decided to try it on a bike. The road got better in my memory than in reality. Extremely rocky and difficult with very steep stretches up and down. I walked the bike over some real gnarly stretches. Portions of the trail are 50%+ slope of gravel and cobble sized loose rock and very rough bedrock. The intrepid and masochistic rider that tries this trail will be rewarded with a fantastic wildflower experience, wildlife, bizarre rock formations and incredible views in every direction that go on forever. You will also be bruised and sore. Leave a vehicle at the State Fish and Game Campground and shuttle to the Peligreen trailhead (1.5 hour drive). Stop at Black Oak Grove about halfway down and take a break -- a beautiful shady spot. There is NO water along the trail, it all follows ridges, so bring plenty. The portion of road that enters into the State Wildlife Area is closed November to April, and during the summer this area is hot, hot, hot. So try this in the Spring. You are in a very rugged and remote portion of Lassen National Forest so carry the appropriate gear and supplies. Cell phone coverage was generally good with some dead spots. Don't ride this alone. I recommend hiking boots for footwear instead of normal bike shoes. Recommended Route: Peligreen to Antelope Creek. This has a 2000 foot net elevation change, so go downhill. Other recommended trails in the same area: Many OHV roads in the area. Mill Creek Trail is nearby
