Cross Country Rider Summary: The trail is in great shape. Brush work has been done and it has opened up the trail. Making the fun factor even higher. Remember to be nice to the hikers and fishermen. Watch out for the big rock at the end of the second section, it made me get wet in the creek. Recommended Route: same Other recommended trails in the same area: Mammoth bike park

Cross Country Rider
, from Ontario, CA USA Summary: Have heard about this single track trail for a couple of years, but never had the time until recently. On August 15th about 12:30pm my friend, Paul, and I dropped his car at the Paradise Restaurant and drove my car to the top of the trail. Probably should have started earlier in the morning this time of year as the temp at the bottom was over 97! Take lots of water! The first two sections, as others have written, is fast, and in good condition, however you get surprised occasionally with blind hard lefts and rights....if you are carrying too much speed you will leave the trail. Some spots have high consequence results if you leave the trail. I recommend riding the first two sections cautiousely the first time until you know the blind spots, then go for it.
The last section, about 3 miles long, is very technical in spots, and until you become familiar with the 5-6 most technical spots you will end up walking, or carrying your bike over, or thru those spots. There are a number of sections where you are riding on what looks like crushed rock for a 100 yards, or so. All but one or two are rideable once you know what to expect. I understand that some expert riders have cleared all the technical areas, and I say bravo to them.
This is a great ride, and I recommend it. Takes about an hour from top to bottom with a couple of stops to say "WOW!". Will do it again in the near future, perhaps in the fall when it's cooler.

, from Reno,Nevada,USA Summary: This trail is awesome! It is very quick moving. The scenery is great. 50 feet where you have to walk up rock stairs. Watch out for the technical section if you are not ready for it, it will bite you in the rear. I went right over the handles bars trying to huck a section. Be careful in this area by the crik you can just fly right into it if you are not payin attention. I did it was fun anyways. Recommended Route: same as others Other recommended trails in the same area: mammoth

Ridden Trail: Every few months

Reviewed by: erik
, from simi Summary: I haven't been since last spring, so I have no idea what the conditions are like. I will be heading up there in about a week though. If you are in the area, this trail is a must. It's sure to put a smile on your face. Just keep your mouth closed so you don't swallow gnats. The bottom half is definitely a lot more advanced than the top half. I also made the mistake of trying to take my wife down the bottom half of the trail. Not fun for her or me. I swear I heard her mutter something about divorce, but I can't be sure. Be sure to keep your speed in check...plenty of fisherman walking up and down the trail in the parts that are near the road crossings and towards the end of the trail near Paradise lodge.
Recommended Route: Down the trail. As many times as you can squeeze into a day. I also just wanted to respond to the couple of reviews below that say that this is not a loop and that you think the guys in Mammoth were playing a joke on you... it is a loop. Half the loop is the ride up the pavement to the trailhead. The other half is the actual trail that takes you back down. That's the loop. Yeah...the road ride isn't much fun at all. But I didn't want people who might go solo with no shuttle car to think they couldn't do it. It's about 8 miles up and 8 miles down.
