, from down the road Summary: 1st off, parking outside of the hurkey creek campgrounds at the bottom is NOT free, its A-pass material. The campgrounds only charges $2 a head and has nice benches, bathrooms, showers, etc. the camp host needs the revenue to continue doing epic 24hour races there, whats the A-pass revenue doing? at the top trailhead u can park without an A-pass just below the parking lot on the street.... at the bottom of Ernie's go with the flow(left) on the fireroad to the SouthRidge Fireroad(left) the climb is worth it....at the bottom of southridge trail it hits a fireroad, there are many options here. i know of some sweet trails off to the left, arcaic and ridable only via an escort(E-me)....the safest bet is making a left off the southridge onto the fireroad, then a left again on singletrack at the closed gate. this is the 'old' 24hour course route. after it doubletracks, keep with the flow of the road, hop the gate and continue to May Valley. after a T-left, theres a singletrack on the left under a huge Oak tree. this is the 'new' course and the Diazapan downhill. when the trail(wide) T's at the bottom u can go either way, right takes u straight out, left continues the course and more epic trail...choice bailout option, its all good....and when u get down u are at hurkey NOT humber Recommended Route: the errors on that above post are many. about the only correct statement is that it is an epic trail!! Sweet summer shuttle action, about 15miles worth
