Five Oaks(Aliso-Niguel Park)
5 reviews
 3.6 of 5

Going up is very technical and there are several places where you will have to portage your bike. Once your at the top (connects with fire road) stop and turn around. There are security gaurds that will bum out if you go any further. Going back down Five Oaks is one of the funnest downhills in Orange County.

Trail Directions
Start at Aliso-Niguel Park entrance, head up Wood Canyon Trail until you pass a new drainage culvert (rocks held in place by fencing - can't miss it) then start watching for a overgrown fire road that will exit Wood Canyon Trail to the right. Follow that trail up for approximately 100 yards and you will find a sign for Five Oaks.

Summary:
Without having to drop into Laguna canyon this is the best trail out there. It drops you off in between Rock-it and Lynx,so you can climb up choya and head down one the two.The third section on this trail is the hardest cause the dirt is so loose and there is barbed wire fence at the end so you have to make a hard left.Be a man and pin it without having to put your feet down.

Recommended Route:
Park at the Choya entrance and instead of going down through the park make a left up the hill and then a right through the houses.Make another left at the end of the steet and head up to the water tower.the trail will be on the left.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
stairstep and talonex

Summary:
As of fall 2000, this is the most technically difficult LEGAL (signed) trail at Aliso for downhill action. Yes, there are plenty of better trails at the park but this is a good intermediate trail for anyone who is ready to move on from Lynx or Rock-it. Remember--Ride it, don't slide it!!!

Recommended Route:
After leaving the paved road/singletrack in, stay on the fireroad to the right. The entrance is after the third dip, the one with fencing placed on the ground.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
I would love to recommend the illegal trails, but can only officially endorse Lynx (decent downhill, with small jumps) and Meadows (toughest 15min. uphill anywhere)

Summary:
I stumbled across this trial while looking for a trail called "Bong Drop" which parallels 5 oaks. It seemed like it was a pretty good downhill, so we road down it on our next ride. It was fun, but way too short. It's not a bad way to start your ride, but there are better trails at Aliso. (Bong Drop being one of them)

Recommended Route:
There is an enterance to this trail off Aliso Creek drive in Aliso Viejo, but I can't remember the exact streets. It's near a new condo dev.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Telonics (my favorite right now), Stair Steps, Car Wreck, Jt's, School Yard, Ira's (if your insane enough, and can find it), Direct Dial, Rock-it is always fun.
