Cross Country Rider Summary: About 15 minutes off of I-5 north of Redding, so if you're in the area its worth pulling off. Loop I rode took about 1h 45m, but can probably be done in less if you know where you're going. This is a good trail for all: good intro to singletrack for novices but experts should like the chance to open things up and spin. It is not technical at all, not a ton of overall vertical, very smooth and has good flow thanks to long sight lines. Rode it early in the morning b/c daytime temps bake here. Recommended Route: Starting at Lower Jones CG ($18/site, but there are undeveloped spots back up the road for $8), rode back out driveway, went right and the trail drops in on right in about 10 feet. Stayed on the trail (there are a lot of OHV sidetracks at the start) for about 3/4 mile - 1 mile. With the lakebed on left, pretty soon come to a Y. I took right fork leading uphill which deposits you on the road. Go right on road and look for trail on your left. Cross some wood bridges and climb 5 or 6 steep but smooth switchbacks to top of hill. The trail continues down backside into a valley. Leads to an arm of the lake where the trail follows the contour. About 1/2 mile after you start riding along lake the trail cuts back uphill rather abruptly. At top is a sign for the Clickapudi MTB trail on your right. I rode this spur about 10 minutes but quit and turned back because it was overgrown and the tread was super-soft and pocked. Back on the main trail, in about 5 minutes is the parking lot for the boat launch ramp. Ride to the far end of the lot to pick trail back up. In about 7 or 8 minutes you're back at that first Y-intersection. Staying right takes you back to Lower Jones.

Weekend Warrior Summary: Sweet little fun ride. Scenic. Good for all levels. Some sections might be tough for beginners, just walk em, very few though. Its all good every day of the year all types of weather. Slick rock when wet but still cake to ride. A few hikers and walkers dependent on what time of day you go and the occasional horse. I take my begginer daughter and she loves it so do many of my experianced friends. Just a tasty little nugget aprox 1-1half hr ride dependent on way you go. minimal climbs just trail riding fun. Recommended Route: We park at the turnout as far east as you can go. you'll see paid parking lot for boats and the like but parking on the shoulder requires no fee or permit. Drop in on the trailhead off to your right and ride the trail. Keep riding until the top of last climb and set of switchbacks takes you to bottom and cross the 4th? wooden bridge. On the pavement look right and go aprox 200' and look left You cant miss the trail sign. go up and continue on the trail. You will come to a point where the trail continues straight which takes you to the campgroud or you can hang the right turn and continue down and up the trail untill you come to the paved parking lot look straight and ahead and right and you'll see your car. If you went to the campground you can either roadie it outta there just get up to the road above you or go out the way you came in then when you get to the fork go left and up to the parking lot. Many others park on the shoulders near the campground and go the opposite direction but I have ridden it this way and it is my opinion that this is strickly for WANKERS! Try it both ways to see which way suits you best but either way I think you wil like it.

, from Shasta Lake, CA Summary: This trails so easy I've done it on my road bike and only had to dab twice in a couple of the loose switchbacks towards the finish. Its good for some high speed single track action and tempo rides. Good views and usually some wildlife wandering around. Recommended Route: clockwise

, from Redding, CA, USA Summary: It's a little technical. Definitly a work out. It took me an hour and half to ride those 8 miles. Good for training. But it's fun and you feel good when you're done. Recommended Route: Ride it backwards so that the switchbacks are at the beginning, then it's mostly downhill. Basically don't start at the trail head, that has the sign. Just before you get to that sign the trail is on the right side of the road and is not marked. Then you will loop around and at the end, end up at the trail sign.

, from reddingcausa Summary: click-a-poo-dee is a good easy training ride, perfect for an hour and a 1/2 to 3/4 session, good for those days you just want to pedal and get the lactic acid out of the muscles, also its good for taking the less experienced rider on because of how well maintained the trail is year round. NOT A VERY GOOD TASTE OF REDDING IF YOU LIKE HILLS, UP OR DOWN Recommended Route: to get there : 299 east, left at dry creek, stay right at the fork in the road, then park on the trail : ride it all one way and when you get to where the trail meets itself turn around and ride the trail in reverse, you get more than 15 miles this way and its just as fun either way Other recommended trails in the same area: any thing out by shasta dam "lemurian course(some of its legal)"
