, from Mission Viejo Summary: Truly there is no valid dirt-riding here. There is however about 7 miles of paved trail on the east, north and south sides. Connects to the 10-mile Coyote Creek trail through Irvine. The vegetation is wasted, but the fish are jumpin. Not like the o;d days. Recommended Route: 11-mile road loop around bay

, from Costa Mesa Summary: Pick up the trail at Mac Arthur blvd and follow road & trails down to "The Dunes" Stay away from the other side (Irvine ave & Santa Isabel / Del Mar) You will be busted if the ranger or over zealous Newport police see you. Be aware of muck & cliffs. Especially in the area of Redlands & Irvine ave. Recommended Route: Try across the bay! Mac Arthur Blvd down Back bay rd!! Lots of different paths and trails, just be sure to watch for signs posted to closed areas. I've ridden this area since 1960 until about a year ago, always something different. Other recommended trails in the same area: Try the bluff area behind Estancia High school. Interesting sights and climbs & jumps etc etc. Go down Victoria to the park above the riverbed and park there. you can proceed down victoria to the base of the cliffs and follow the path(s) or ride the trail if you enjoy a good view of wildlife or a ride up to Fullerton or to the beach.

, from Playa del Rey Summary: DON'T RIDE THIS TRAIL! Recommended Route: First things first, as someone who grew up in Costa Mesa and has spent alot of time at the Back Bay, THIS IS NOT A LEGAL RIDE. You know those signs with a bike inside a circle and a big slash through the middle of it? Well, that means that you can't ride here. The Back Bay is 1) an ecological reserve, 2) it's prone to serious erosion and 3) there are so many places to ride in Orange County, let alone So Cal that you don't need to ride here.

, from santa ana Summary: I would only recommend this for an easy adventure. Only good during the week. To mant people on the weekends. Not much, but for a local place, it's ok. Recommended Route: start by the new obsevitory. Look over the cliff, and go any way. Other recommended trails in the same area: Whiting Ranch-10 times better.
