Sulfer pits

Narly single track skirts ridge lines for about 6-8 miles.(features a downhill into a volcano crater that is just awesome) Get w/ the locals or you may never come out. Very wet, muddy,w/nauseating climbs and wicked, very rocky decents that could spell disaster if your too aggressive or to hesitant.. There are also alot of loose bulls that roam the area (ie:no red jersey)Great trail if you find yourself in the Azores (Terciera island) Other trails include Seretta, Agualva bus loop.

Summary:
This trail is very fun and challenging. There are numerous routes to choose, all leading to the bottom of the crater. Some very steep and loose descents that can be challenging. Watch out for crevasses next to the trail, some can be very deep. During the winter the trail gets to be pretty mudding in some areas. This trail can really test your riding skills.

Recommended Route:
From the dirt road make a right. A few yards down the road will be a fence on the right. Climb the fence, from there you will see the trail. Once you get to the crater there will be many trails that all connect at the bottom.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Agualva Magic Bus loop(reveiw in: Europe-other), Serretta loop, Cave ride, and tour around the island. Ask for Barbosa or the Road And Dirt bicycle club.

Summary:
Very wicked trail. Remember to bring a slower rider than yourself to keep the BULLS occupied. Have pictures. You must have a passport to visit the Portuguese Azores. Definately get with the locals. If the fog should set in you aren't going anywhere. Photos don't show the true steepness descending into the crator. Beginners bring lots of bandaids. Intermediates bring a spare tube and advanced riders enjoy. The lung sucking burn of the climbs and the tearing descents.

Recommended Route:
as seen in the description review

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Serretta, Beach run, and Agualva Magic Bus Loop
