Farsh Elija

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 1

A grueling climb up a double wide camel trail. You will eventually arrive at a narrow pass after which you turn right and begin a short but technical downhill into the Farsh Elijah. You can camp or arrange for bike security prior to hiking to the summit. Reverse order and do the downhill. One can also find some single track in Wadi El Arbain between Mt. Sinai and Mt. St Katherines. Be mindfuul of pilgrims and camels on the trails. The trails are very crowded in the morning.

Summary:
if you are very fit the ride will take 1 hour.best to start 2 hours before sunrise to enjoy the undisputed splendour of the sunrise.the ride is uphill all the way with some rocky and technical sections.it is a spiritual ride on holy ground as thousands of pilgrams have walked up the mountain over centuries.reputedly the route followed by moses 3500 years ago to receive the 10 commandment which are the basis of christian religious faith world wide.going back is a blast just watch out for the hairpin bends.expect the arms to demand a rest after halfway

Recommended Route:
start route behind st.catherines monastary via camel track.stick to well use track or map supplied by monastry
