Summary:
The first 70 km. takes you to San Sebastian de las Grutas, nice town there are caves that can be explored there, stalagtites and stalagmites, places to camp. A nice creek comes out at the base of one of the mountains. The first 55 km of the trip is more or less flat, some up and down, the last 15 km is all uphill. We camped there and a town lady fed us good food and cheep.
From there there is a single track that takes you almost all the way to Sola de Vega, about 35 km. the last 10km is hyway. From there we took the the path that pilgrims take to Juquila, there is a Catholic shrine there where the local virgin is famous. This path is not ridable in most places and you cave to carry the bike most of the way. The next time I go I'm going to take a buss from Sola de vega to Juquila !!!
From Juquila to the cost is the best. mostly downhill, beautifull rivers and jungle.
This trip can actualy be done in three days. Then spend time on the beach, If you surf i'ts great.
Another option is to not go to Puerto Escondido but to Chacagua, This is a bird sancutuary, large lake and also has great beaches.
If your interested let me know, I may be able to give other tipps, maybe even go!!!

Recommended Route:
This trail starts in the city of Oaxaca, then goes to San sebastian, from there to Sola de Vega, Juquila, Rio Grande and can end up in Puerto Escondido.
