Well I have been living in Rwanda for over two year, and I must say there is some kick ass mountain biking around here. Recently you may have seen an article in Dirt Rag about mountain biking in Rwanda, though they didn't talk much about the riding here. Tom Ritchey has been coming out here too for Project Rwanda that he started up, pretty cool project. Me myself I got my own work, but when I am out of work, one of my favorite things to do is go riding around the Deuche Valle area.

There is no way that I could in anyway describe all of the trails that I know here, but pretty much everytime I go out I am on new trails. I'll attach a map that can help get you started, it is what we call the Coca-Cola route, myself personally I find the route pretty boring cause it is all on dirt roads. I will say this that it is a good route to start on to get familiar with the area. Once you memorize the hill then you can start linking the endless amount of single track that there is here.

The Coca-Cola route pretty much goes around the Dueche Valle (the big antenas visible almost anywhere in Kigali when you are on a hill). It is a pretty flat route for the 'land of thousand hills'. It is the choice route that I take beginners on and is about 30km. Once you get familiar with the route get off the road and start riding all of the killer single track.

Also check out Project Rwanda's website.
