Summary:
Well as someone already put it we have yet to ride the same XC route in either a club race or provincial. The organisers from the Rockhoppers are excellent and put a lot of effort into it all....Thanx guys! Anyways getting back to the trails, well the DH track is pretty rough...if u make a single wrong move on the one drop-off its kinda like meet the trees to either side or free fall down about 15 metres (remembering that u are travelling +40 km/h) But looking over all that the plus side is that about 3km away theres the wilgeheuwel hospital with excellent nurses and care.

Recommended Route:
travelling from Johannesburg city head towards the Northgate dome and its pretty simple from there

Other recommended trails in the same area:
further west of the quarry, most of the flatland area is farmlands and along most of the roads there are dirt tracks. By discovering e'm you can put together a pretty good training route with lots of scenery and escape from the city as it's peaceful.

Reviewed by: Brent Carpenter , from Johannesburg, South Africa

Summary:
I mainly ride this trail on race days held by Johannesburg Rockhoppers. I have ridden it many times and have yet to ride the exact rout twice. The event organisers do a good job of setting the course out and making it interesting and challenging everytime. They also make sure that cyclists of all skill levels can partisipate and always have a shorter less challenging course for juniors and begginners. The trail offers plenty of variation from forrests, sandy areas, downhill and jumps just about everything you would be looking for in a good off road track.
For more details on race days see Ride Magazine SA for a timetable or Johannesburg Rockhoppers on 011 949-1616. Enjoy............ Brent.

Recommended Route:
There are many varied routes which makes each ride different and exciting. There is a lot of room for change.
