Took me ages to find this place, only spotted it whilst looking at a council map of brent river park. Its right next to Elthorne Park (reviewed elsewhere) - you just cross the canal.

Unless im completely missing something its basically a large square steep embankment (couple of metres) flanked on one side by a much larger, wooded motorway embankment. Looks promising... ..until you get to the entrance of the interesting bit theres a load of tape plastered everywhere and health & safety signs. Couldnt find any references on the web, but a mate locally told me it was used as a dumping ground for toxic (weapons?) waste during WW2. Sounded pretty serious. Oh well :(

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Elthorne Park - see review

Wharncliffe Viaduct:

Seeing as your in the area anyway... Leave the canal and follow the river north, past the hospital on the & into Brent River Park. Youll see a viaduct - go underneath & left for a nice railway embankment.
