, from Dorchester Summary: Sometime in August in substitution for a Ken ride I organised a ride through Wareham Forest.Starting at the Cock and Bottle at Morden. Where a fine collection of gentlemen assembled, this being a fine establishment with good ale (and very good food), it took a time to get going. But get going we did, north then left turn to Whitefield on road through woods to East Bloxworth. Then off road left until we met the A35, dodgy crossing.into the forest proper except those that hit the sand, an on going hazard for the ride. Soon we were up on Woolsbarrow hill fort where Alan Jenks could do his Cor look at that spiffing view or not as we were in the company of a rather pleasant mother and daughter combo! Left turn along forest rides then right for fast descent to The Silent Woman (a fictitious concepted theme pub?) The balmy warm evening meant that the place was heaving and the MWMc had it fair share of beery beverage. The return up to the forest was interesting as we were overtaken by motor bikes! The forest rides were just as we left them fast and dusty and full of the smell o pine. Heck if I ever see a job for the Wichita Linesman, Am yor Man! So long as Ah can take mah schwinn. I digress, Turn right at X roads single track on to the tarmac, B3075 Sherford Bridge on to the A35 (bit of up hill) and back to the pub. This is a good one for the misses. As the food is good and the pine needles are kinda forgiving. Just make sure youre with her. Start pub about 15 miles car drive half-hour from Dorchester. Ride 6-7 miles. Recommended Route: Anti-clockwise as down hill for crossing fast road Other recommended trails in the same area: many trail thru Wareham Forest
