Short but very,very sweet

There is a number of trails around Blaenwern but this is my personal favourite. From where you parked at the forest gate, immediately turn left on to a kind of very wide, muddy singletack follow this up the hill(parallel to the hill you just drove down),and then enjoy the rather short, but rather good descent down to the crossroads you should have just driven through, then follow the trail round to the right, all the time parallel to the road you just drove along. When you get closer to the entrance of Allt y Mynydd old folks home the trail becomes proper singletrack and will start to climb the hill above the home. When you get to a wooden gate in a stone wall, don't go through it,go to the right of it,to follow the trail into the forest. This bit is pretty difficult to ride, especially when wet.Follow this trail until it comes out of the forest on an extremely rutted, wide track, and out onto the fireroad.Once on the fireroad, turn left,go up the short hill, where there is superb views of the Teifi valley. Then go down the hill a very short way, and there will be a steep track branching off on your right,go up this track to the top of the hill, and look out for singletrack branching off on your left.Ride down here for no more than about 30 seconds, then turn off left onto a path(well sort of a path!) carved out by us local bikers, that descends steeply and very quickly through the trees of the plantation. At the bottom of this you should hit the fire road again.Turn right and ride for quarter to half a mile until you get back to where you parked. This ride can just as easily be done the other way around, and you could spend a few hours exploring the other trails around Blaenwern. And hey,the trails must be pretty good because Blaenwern always hosts at least two races a year of the local XC race series, and has hosted rounds of the Welsh championship in the past!
