QE Trail

Average Rating:    (3.57 of 5)

XC single track, split by a fire road. A great last downhill, wide enough to race down. Some stupid ramblers walk up it, and the only down side is the idiot nose hair rangers that will tell you off for anything. Good track though.

Summary:
I started riding this track about 6 years ago and still find it tops for a quick fix during the week!
To clear the whole thing without stopping or dabbing in uder 20 minutes still kills!! but its one of those trails that, once U get good at it, allways satisfies as u find yourself going at it quicker and quicker.
I have had no problems with rangers in all the time I have been there and I have explored everything!
U just have to pick your visiting times carefully.
The old NPS downhill second half is still rideable and the rangers seem to putting up with that and someone has cut a very nice "dual" type piece of singletrack down the back towards buriton just keep your eyes peeled on the side of the hill that looks out towards petersfield.

Recommended Route:
Do The expert route until U get to the main fireroad that runs up the spine of the hill nearest to the A3 then left onto the family track until U see the Horse track sign just past the summit on the right for a serious brain out brakes off 40 mph decent.
Keep following the family route as it climbs back to where U left the expert route and rejoin the xpert route to the end.
Still got some steam to let off?? then start the expert route again and leave it again at the same fire road and climb to the summit again but this time go left onto the horse track and follow it all the way back to the visitor centre on a rollercoaster downhill with short quick climbs to keep the altitude to end with as much brake free decending as U dare that just gets quicker and quicker.
Dont do this at busy times though coz u r likely to falatten some poor kid or find horses coming the other way.
Use your common sense!!

Oxney moss but Im not telling U where it is.

Summary:
Follow the south downs way signs, quite easy realy, if you've got a DH bike you be able to get down all of the hill however your be walking up most of them as well, however these an xc should get up and down all of the hill, except down one of them as it's a c**t. When you get to QE country park hit the expert route, again it's well sign posted and as walker are not alowed on it, it about the only time you can have a go at them for getting in your way. they do good pie at the shop also

Recommended Route:
Get the focks to drop you off at Houghton then go west along the south downs way then end up at QE Trail with a lap around the expert route and then stop at the shop for some pies, mmuuuuu

Summary:
I used to be an 'idiot nose hair ranger' but now I am only a 'stupid rambler'. If you have ever seen what happens to a four year old boy when he gets hit by a stupid MB rider showing off you might pay a bit more respect for the rights of other people.

Recommended Route:
The set out route

Summary:
I don't ride QE too much these days as i moved to cornwall for the surf, but i grew up near it and began riding out there in about 1986 (before there were signed bike tracks). This park does not maximise its potential. I know that its a 'no no' to deviate from the designated trail (and best done in winter when the park is quieter), but hey, respect what you find, watch out for other park users and be apologetic if you're caught and you will find way more than you think is out there. Also don't missout on the surrounding hills outside the normal park boundaries.

Recommended Route:
use your imagination
