Perry Woods

Average Rating:    (3.8 of 5)

There's a lot of drop-ins ranging from small to insane. There's a few jumps ranging from doubles to vert's. There's a good selection of trails dotted around the main crater - get someone to show you these. If you go up on a Sunday there will almost definately be someone else there. For any skill level but hardcore bikes, hardtails or downhill bikes, are useful.

Trail Directions
Get a map of the Canterbury area, locate Chilham (to the South West of Canterbury) and find Perry woods (to the North West of Chilham). Get there either by travelling by car, or get a train to Chilham or Selling (Selling is closest) and follow the map carefully to the Perry woods car park. Out of the car park (on bike!), turn right, then left at the crossroads. Follow the path uphill about 10m up this road on the right. This will lead you to the main crater area.

erm, i used to go here every week, but since then it has turned really rubbish!!! it is a good place to begin, and is still good for a laugh now and then. but i would still rather mission it down to a better trail!

Recommended Route:
from the train station at selling, go out of the road and turn left. follow that and take (i think) the third left. (its right on top of a small hill) carry on that road untill you reach a cross roads. go over, then right into the woods...

Other recommended trails in the same area:

perry is a good place to go to test yourself. it goes from small jumps to a whip ass double and a sort of medium drop. after a few times it does get a bit boaring coz u can do everything. its great for going down with a group of mates and going mental for a day.

Recommended Route:
i get the train from margate station and then change at faversham to a train to selling. then out of the station up the road and then left at the pub and just follow the road up and you will see it posted.

Summary:
Perry Woods is my local riding area, and I rekon it is bloody excellent, and I would recomend it to anyone who has enough skill to pull off most of the jumps (or all of them). It is suitable for a wide range of ages, but they really do need to know what they're doing. It is a good idea if you go there often, because the ramps and jumps are often being modified.
