Summary:
This route is now brill!!! Loads of single track, good flowing down hill and some technical rocky bits.

A great route with the longest boardwalk section I have ever done. It's well worth a ride. Warning, when its raining part of the route can be a bit like riging in a stream but it was well worth the effort.

Best route I've ridden so far, make sure you do both loops.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Loads around the area Marin is a good one.

Summary:
I went to Penmachno on a reccomendation from a local bike shop and I felt very let down. It was described to me as being better than the bench mark Welsh trails at Coed y Brenin so of course I had to have a look!
Although the trails at Penmachno at time of riding were not officially open, meaning there may very well be more to come in the future, all of the trail sign posts were up and all the jumps seemed to be complete.
Basically it was dangerously narrow and fast single track (albeit in beautiful scenary) with a serious lack of imagination.
It went on forever and always seemed to be going up hill! I was utterly bored at the end and tired for no reward. If you love being out in the elements and are a hardened xc boy then go. If you are looking for more action from your riding and actually want to make use of having suspension then avoid. Don't be sucked into the hype just because it's new. It's rubbish and I'm still annoyed to this day. Go to Brechfa or Afan instead and do some proper mountain biking!

Recommended Route:
Don't bother doing the extended loop (unless you want to be 'really bored' instead of just 'bored') It's cleaverly named ''loop 1'' or ''loop 2'' as well. I think loop 2 was the extension.... which I ended up doing.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Coed y Brenin
Afan forest park
Brechfa
