Gliders - Minton Batch decent

Average Rating:    (5 of 5)

Go through the gate and follow the forestry road all the way to the top. When you reach the crossroads at the top take the righthand track towards the Gliding club. After 100 yrds you will come to a gate and the edge of the runway (grassy area),Check for gliders then leg it across the grass to the gravel road follow this past the buildings and down to the entrance gate. Leave the gliding club and head right along the grass parallel with the road for approx 20yrds look out for a narrow track going off to the right through the bracken towards a very narrow valley. Prepare yourselfs for possably one of the best and longest single track decents you've ever done. Once at the bottom go past the nosiy dogs at the farm and follow main track to the road, Turn right and follow the road for half a mile to the T junction turn right and follow back to the parking area.

Slightly different to the Minton Batch decent. It can be a bit faster, but unfortunately over quicker!

Recommended Route:
The best way to get to this is to go up through the forest at Priors Holt - once your at the top you need to get past the Gliders club and onto the little road that runs over the top of the Mynd 'Jack Mytton Way' It's on the map. This descent starts off the road on a trail through the bracken, over some open land and down a steep grass section - then up again. Once you complete this you stand on a path next to a tree witht he valley to your right. This is where things begin. I have been meaning to try out Ashes Hollow, but never found the top of it! Would be interested to hear of any thoughts on that descent A left hander sinfle track speeds you up and reminds you of the Alps, it S's through onto the sheep path that will eventually throw you down to the campsite at the bottom of the hill. This route is characterised by speed and heavy banking, it won't make your ears pop, but it's worth a visit.

Tried it for the first time this weekend.
A track not to be missed, by far one of the best decents I've done.
We had two falls within the group, non serious but the technical nature of the track means you have to be alert all the time.
The fire track up the hill is nice and steady and should not be a problem for most.
"a gem of a track".as stated by the author of the review on mtbbritan.
The same route but named Church Stretton loop 2.
