, from Newcastle Summary:
At the top of "the wall", go straight on/ bearing left to go up a short hill bearing due South. Follow this broad track south for ~1.5km then turn west (right) for ~1 km to rejoin the main Hambleton road, turning left to head SSE. At the junction with the road, turn right down the road, then left after 200m onto the Cleveland way heading due South to Sutton bank. Great views to the right off fast singletrack. You may want to turn off left before last km of trail as it is footpath, turning left to arrive into the visiors centre by road. Good cafe. From the Visitors centre turn right (West) down the 1 in 4 sutton bank road. Go round 1st hairpin but go straight on through gate at second hairpin heading south. Follow trail until carpark in sight then turn right back on yourself and down hill. Turn left at fork and left again at hairpin to join main track. Follow this North and then left at fork up the hill. On downhill, look out for marked turn right through field to farm. Go left on path just before farm then right at gate, through next gate and onto road. Left on farm road up to main road where you turn right. Follow back up east towards Sutton Bank, tuning right after 1km marked Gormire farm and bridleway. Follow excellent technical singletrack NNW on east bank of Gormire lake. Turn right at Southwoods lodge in clearing heading North. Continue north to left of Southwoods hall following trail through field to west, then North to arrive in Tang Hall. Turn right up track up hill and go through gate to left of Greendale farm. Left up cowtrack after next (immediate gate). Follow this track NW , over gate then left domnhill through field to gate and farmtrack. Follow this through ford to tun right at T junction with road. Save your legs for 25% road climb, turning left off through gate just before summit. Follow this trail to High Paradise farm, tuning right to join Cleveland way again where you take a Left. Follow this broad track all the way back to Osmotherley, with killer descent and drainage ditch jumps at end. To avoid road you can park in carpark at end of trail, near Chequers. Total ~36 km (4hours) Excellent varied terrain. Recommended Route: This is a great route but is pretty short. It also gets very damp and muddy down in the valley after rain. If you want a longer ride:
Other recommended trails in the same area: Boltby forest (next to High Paradise farm) has great waymarked singletrack but avoid except in dry spell as it's often axle deep mud!
