Cross Country Rider Summary: This is my local patch and it's pretty good. There's some very nice singletack which is not too technical but is fun to ride. In the summer it can get over-grown but then it becomes very fast. Wet winters mean a really muddy ride but there's only a few times you will need a dedicated mud tyre and generally a good all-rounder will do for most of the year. We have a route we ride that covers about 8 miles of pure off-road stuff so a two or three laps and it'll certainly test your fitness as there's some long climbs to have a go at. But then there's the downhill bit's after so all in all a lovely ride. We are also close to Hanchurch and Bathpool for even more singletrack fun Recommended Route: From the visitor centre at Apedale headup to Black Bank. Nip into Perch Pool Wood and then back down to Apedale Road via the Folley run. Then cycle up the Drive and into Bluebell Wood. From there it's lovely singletrack back to Apedale. Turn left at the end and ride across the bank to Apedale pools. Ride round the perimeter and you will end up back at the drive - 8 miles done. Best still - email me and I'll show you round. Other recommended trails in the same area: Hanchurch Woods and Bathpool Park
