Man made Red route. Big climbs, mainly on fire roads, big descents, rough surfaces. 20km, long climbs and lots of berms, drops and tabletops. Build your skills as it heads for a thrilling finale. The trail is falling apart in places but this just adds to the challenge and its more natural. From the Omega Man section it just gets better an better, the jumps will kick even the most stubborn groundhuggers into the air! The finish has 3 choices, Red, Black, Double Black. Reds my level and superb, trust the designer an drop the drops!!!!
Summary: Ace route, good challenging ride for the more experienced riders and a full days riding for the slower weekend warrior like myself. You can ride this at whatever pace you like because it's that long you rarely see other riders, and it lends itself to being a fantastic ride whether you go at a reasonable pace or tear it up and jump at every opportunity of which there is many.
Does contain a large chunk of fireroad but very nicely interspersed with fantastic sections of singletrack, some sections can get a little muddy and tricky in the wet but on a dry day this is a quick course, and in winter belive me it can get chilly up there as it is very exposed in parts unlike some other 7 stanes routes.
Would be nice to see some facilities there like other centres, although perhaps this would take away an element of isolation which is another feature of this route compared to such as glentress.
Recommended Route: Red Route

Summary: This is one of the 7 Stanes, about 20 Minutes from Dumfries by car. Not as crowded as Mabie or Dalbeattie because there is only one single route (dates back to April 2006; the final Downhill is for the more experienced rider, easier green- and blue-graded trails are due to open in August 07). The red route which is somewhat challenging, has some steep climbs and nice technical Singletrack. Beautiful scenery all the way!
This route has an aggressive freeride style to it with some large and sometimes intimidating trail features. If you ride fast (and carefully), you'll get the most of it. Things get very exciting fast.
The highlight of the route is definitely the final descent of Omega Man, with consists of many jumps and some Northshore Track.
Nearby you'll find the 1.6km Ae Downhill route. It provides a bigger challenge with its seriously gnarly rocky sections, slippery roots and some huge drops will satisfy the most demanding of (free)riders.
Take your camera with you. Ae can be ridden on a rainy day, no bike wash or Café.
Recommended Route: Red route with the Omega man.
Other recommended trails in the same area: Combine it with Mabie (5 miles south of Dumfries) for a nice bike day!
