Reviewed by: Stuart , from Cranfield, UK

Summary:
I stayed in a cottage on the edge of the forest last summer and took my bike out every morning. Be prepared for some real climbing (1000 ft) and some great scenery and then some endless downhills - as fast as you dare. The forest has several marked mtb trails, which are graded but even the easiest takes some cranking. The paths are a mixture of gravel and dirt tracks. You may meet walkers so be sensible and courtious and avoid the paths that are marked walkers only. Extreme riders can gain access to some wild steep peaks that surround the forest e.g. Grizdale Pike from the forest trails. If you ride just after sunrise you'll get to meet deer and other local inhabitants.

Recommended Route:
Do them all!
