Brillient! The route is covered on OS explorer 161 Ride length 20 miles. Total climb 330 mtrs. 2 climbs easy one on road. 2 decents one fast one techinal. Covers open moor land, single track through forestry and a little tarmac approx 2 miles. There are loads of options to change this route either longer or shorter. There are 3 pubs and a couple of shops on route.

Summary:

Start at Tredegar town clock, down by motor world and under the by-pass.
Up Gorge town hill, turn left into Park view road. Right through gap in wall follow track to top. Turn right by overhead cables follow single track to join road.
Turn right at cross road then first left onto forestry track. Stay on this track until reservoir. Goto far end where you'll see a track (not the one down).
Follow single track through forestry. At other end of forestry either follow track behind houses or down to join road. Turn right by the side of a building there is a track that leads on to a trail up the side of the hillside.
Long climb up the hill, at top continue on track around farm for 500mtrs.
At forestry track down to the right, through double gates. Long sweeping right hand bend, this is a very fast down hill, just after gate track gets steeper and surface can get a bit loose. At bottom of hill choice of continuing along track, some times it gets over grown. Or turn right over river then look for worn path which leads through bushes onto the road.
Cross road and start climb, road has hair pin and you'll pass a spar shop. At top turn right. At memorial cross roads turn right on to small B road. Passed water tower through cattle grid. Next junction turn right, follow road through dry stone walls.
Over cattle grid. Follow fence on your right, head towards top of hill. Just before you drop over the edge turn left!
You will find the remains of a drag (used to drag stone up the hill). The next bit can be tricky to find. looking down to your right you'll see disused winding gear wheels.
There is a tricky path due to subsidence straight to them. But a better route is to continue on over the next hill. Follow stone wall runing parralell to the edge, look for fence posts still standing. Track starts decending, as it levels out it doubles back leading to the winding gear, It's narrow so be careful!
At the winding gear sharp left, down loose stone track. (If you reach a fence you've got a little too far, turn right and look for a style). Turn right at second sheep track, left at second stream and work your way down through forest to fence. Over style cross the road and down into Bedwellty Pits. Turn left onto cycle path. Follow road back to Start.

Recommended Route:
This route travels down the eastern side of the Sirhowy Valley then back along the west side back to Tredegar, in the Valleys of South Wales .
