Ridden Trail: Once a week

, from Hitchin, Herts Summary: Excellent forest, if a little small, with all types of riding. A near "family" blue run and an increasingly challenging Red Run make great warm ups for the fun at the Freeride area. This has drop-offs of all grades for you to build up your confidence, as I did, until you are flying down the lot! ALso an excellent little twisty singletrack run at the far edge which can be taken at your own speed with nothing too daunting. Usually other (mostly) friendly bikers there at weekends too but be careful of dogs, walkers and runners - we all share the paths. Recommended Route: Also known as "Chicksands" - Up the A600 near Shefford, you can't miss it. Jointly run by the Forestry Commission and the local estate. The trails have been built and maintained by the Beds Fat Trax MTB club - good job guys ! Other recommended trails in the same area: General XC around Hitchin/Great Wymondly/etc - looking for more !
