A good Lake District circuit, generally sound tracks, short climbs, good scenery.

Summary:
if you want the best riding that the uk has to offer then you can't beat the lake district. if you use ambleside as a start/finish you can ride superb trails in every direction. i usually start a little further east at kentmere and when i get back to the car i've done 40 odd miles on a good day. garburn pass is a must as is martindale.i prefer the more technical routes but if these are too hard for you you can find any type of trail that you prefer . if its forest tracks you want then try grisedale forest or if its the high fells then high street is hard and rewarding [keep an eye on the weather though as it can close in very quickly]. loughrigg terrace has beautiful views but gets very crowded so if you want to include it in your route then the earlier the better. there are plenty of published routes in this area and the guys at biketrecks in ambleside will gladly point you in the right direction, but if you need to know any more dont be afraid to e mail me at HENSTOCK@AOL.
