, from Monkseaton, Tyneside, UK Summary: The Falcon Crag section of this ride is great fun (after the inital pain of the climb!) From memory the top section is quite open grassy and exposed with some boggy patches. The path becomes more defined along a terrace in the hillside this is a fast section in any conditions. You come to a section which can be described as a 'Rock Garden' not rideable (by me anyway!) this is just a short sections which doesnot spoil the trail too much from here the desent steepens and becomes more technical great fun but over too soon! as the road to From Ashness Bridge to Watendath tarn is met. Recommended Route: This route can be extended to make a great a day out as follows - Take the tarmac track from Ashness Bridge to Watendath Tarn a bridleway can then be followed to Rosthwaite (Steep technical decsent) you can then follow the road to Grange. From Grange take the minor road to Portenscale. About a third of the way along this road a Bridleway can be followed which cuts into the flanks of Maiden Moor and Catbells (This a very fast and smooth section of singletrack it is a total blast! watch out for walkers which )from the foot of Catbells take the tarmac back to Portenscale. Then from Portenscale to Keswick following the route of the C2C. Other recommended trails in the same area: Watch out as the route over Falcon Crag is actually a Public Footpath (not legal to ride). It did not stop us as it was low season in the Lakes (a cold, wet & very windy day in early November) I would not attempt it during the summer months as it would be too conjested with walkers (It just would not be worth the hassle!)

, from LAKE DISTRICT, UK Summary: A tough climb in the wet. Great technical descent & the most amazing views. It's surprising how you end up at Ashness Bridge and you're still bloody high up! Other recommended trails in the same area: Must be fit.
